Online Guitar Lessons
Students all across the United States, UK, Dubai, Tel Aviv, and all over the world are taking guitar lessons online with me from the convenience of their homes.
What began as a new venture in 2020 has evolved into the cutting edge of guitar tutoring. Now anyone, from anywhere in the world can log on and receive personalized instruction from their computer or tablet.
Learn how to play guitar
In 2020, a surge of students reached out to me to take lessons online remotely. At first, it seemed like an inconvenience due to the worldwide shutdowns. But as more and more people took the online option, I decided to bring the quality to the absolute highest possible - so that lessons online would be just as good, if not better than in-person lessons.
An average teaching morning/afternoon now looks like this - a lesson for a student in Boston, then Atlanta, then Tel Aviv, then London, then Florida, San Francisco, Buffalo and more.
Through online teaching, I have been able to meet so many people from different backgrounds with different musical tastes that it truly helped me grow as a musician and a teacher.
Abi, UK
Here’s a testimonial from Abi - who takes online guitar lessons all the way from the UK!
Anjali, US
Check out Anjali, who is currently getting her medical degree. Already being a professional-level singer, she decided to take up the guitar with me online in 2021. Here she is singing and strumming Lizzy McAlpine’s “Erase Me”.
George, Atlanta
Watch this note from George in Atlanta who’s been playing for over 40 years!
Andressa, Florida
Check out the one and only Andressa from Florida - she learned Harry Styles’s “Matilda” about a week after the release of “Harry’s House”. Sometimes she sends me a sick bluegrass tune randomly!
How it works
All of my lessons are done through Google Meet. If you haven’t used Google Meet before, don’t worry - it’s as simple as clicking on a link.
There are no complicated programs, glitchy software, or headaches of any kind. Once we set up a time, you get the link and we are ready to go!
What You Need
Ideally, students use a laptop (or desktop) computer and use headphones or earbuds for sound isolation.
If you don’t have a laptop I have plenty of students who get by just fine with a tablet or smartphone!
Keys to success
When it comes to learning guitar, I believe the experience should be as enjoyable and rewarding as possible. That’s why I've designed my online guitar lessons to offer you more than just technical skills.
Stress-free environment
I always seek to create an encouraging and chill environment. While practicing is important, I never ever want a student to feel any pressure or stress taking lessons. We need to keep in mind that progress comes with lots of ups and downs over the course of months and years. My students often say our lesson time is what they look forward to most every week.
Truly Personalized Lessons
You see this term a lot on the internet but what does it truly mean? For me, it means that I try to understand how an individual student learns best and create materials that cater to this learning style.
For beginners looking to learn chords and strumming, in addition to songs I will be giving you exercises designed just for you. Advanced students will find me giving them challenging lines that incorporate different techniques that keep their skills sharp in the style they like.A focused yet flexible plan
For each student, I have an overarching plan on how to move them forward with their goals in music. However, at every corner we are going to find unexpected things that need to be addressed, techniques that need to be fixed etc.
With this in mind, I do not stick to a rigid, pre-meditated curriculum, rather we are need to be flexible and go to where lessons naturally want to lead.Constant Support
My students have access to text me with any issues they are running into on the guitar between lessons. It is very common that you might be in a lesson, have a major breakthrough, and then forget everything the moment you leave. Or between lessons you just can’t get a technique or one part of a song. I’m always ready to help you out!
Organized materials and post-lesson video
Often if a student has come to me after having had other guitar instructors, they are shocked at the lengths I go to to make sure they are equipped to practice between lessons. For some students I use physical notebooks, most of my students have moved to using Google Drive or email.
After every lesson, students receive a dated folder with pdf’s of what we did plus a comprehensive lesson overview. The videos are absolutely critical because you can see me demonstrating exactly how to do something without having to guess lesson to lesson.
Benefits of Learning Guitar Online
Dependable scheduling
No rushing or getting caught in a traffic jam on your way to your instructor’s lesson studio! This may seem like a minor detail - but losing ten or more minutes to traffic is a big deal and can be very costly for the student
Flexibility for busy parents and professionals. When you take travel out of the equation - just about anyone, no matter how busy their schedule is, can fit in a guitar lesson.
I often teach several family members back to back, I’ll teach busy professionals as they break from their work. Often lessons will be a sort of music class for homeschooled kids as well.
The relaxation of your space
Let’s face it, today’s world for a lot of people brings stress and a ton of anxiety. For people feeling this way, getting a private lesson in the comfort of their space is perfect and puts them at ease.
Timezones
For students in Europe, Africa, and Asia, lessons in your evening work out perfectly for me in the morning. I won’t be rescheduling all the time because of performances later in the day and you have plenty of time to ease into a lesson after school or work!
